BNP leader rejects govt measures on Balochistan

LAHORE, Oct 25: Balochistan National Party leader Dr Abdul Hayee Baloch says he is not satisfied with the measures taken by the federal government on the Balochistan issue.
“If the rulers are serious in resolving the issue, they should end the use of force in Balochistan and give the province its right to use its resources instead of offering alms,” he said, while talking with Dawn over phone from Quetta.
He said missing people should be rescued and killers of Nawab Akbar Bugti and other Baloch leaders be brought to justice.
Dr Baloch said there was no difference between the past and incumbent rulers as the practice of forced disappearances of young Balochs and political activists and army operation were on.
“Balochistan is in the grip of the Frontier Constabulary which is combing each and every corner of the province,” said he, adding that army operations were not conducted in democratic governments.
He said only the registration of first information reports in Akbar Bugti and other murder cases was not enough to calm down the people of Balochistan rather the alleged killers had to be taken to task. He said the federal government should pay them royalty on their natural resources instead of offering alms in the name of packageshttp://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/national/bnp-leader-rejects-govt-measures-on-balochistan-609
